Hi!

It's nice to greet you!

My name is Khushi Patel, I am an undergraduate studying Writing & Rhetoric at the University of Central Florida, and I currently work as a writing center consultant.

Oh, and I want to study/teach/do rhetoric for the rest of my life. â€‹

Welcome to my professional-ish site!

While I am (always!) interested in learning from and engaging with other fields, my main areas of interest are:

  • Critical Disability Studies

  • Rhetoric of Health and Medicine

  • Writing Program Administration

  • Technical and Professional Communication â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

My civic and scholarly interests are one and the same; I'm kind of obsessed with rhetoric and its potential to create a better world. I am motivated by the desire to create more just, inclusive, and accessible environments—in both medical and educational contexts—and hope to do work that influences policy, programmatic, and material changes.

My research primarily focuses on the intersection(s) between COVID-19 and disability, which stems from a not-so-secret goal of improving the accessibility of academic, medical, and activist spaces. I approach every project with a sociological lens, and I am especially interested in examining how power and social structures shape the production and circulation of knowledge.
